COVID-19 PROTOCOL - Not Currently in Effect
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS to ensure the health and safety of our athletes, staff and their families, The Smiths Falls Gym Stars adheres to strict guidelines and protocols set by The Lanark County Health Unit and Gymnastics Ontario. These protocols are continuously being updated as the situation evolves.
1. Participants must wait until they are welcomed in by a coach.
2. Hand sanitizer is mandatory upon entering the facility.
3. Participants will have access to the washroom area but we STRONGLY RECOMMEND arriving dressed and ready to go for class, and leaving the change rooms for competitive athletes and washroom use only.
4 Participants should bring their own water bottle.
5. Participants must practice proper hand washing etiquette. This includes:
7. Gymnastics Ontario is permitting physical contact between coaches and athletes if a coach is wearing a mask. Therefore, the wearing of masks by a coach is MANDATORY while spotting or in close contact with an athlete.
8. Social distancing rules need to be applied whenever possible.
9. Anyone feeling unwell for whatever reason MUST stay home. Participants and parents must do a self-assessment at home before attending each class.
10. Parents are currently not permitted inside the building. Come fall, some parents will be allowed to watch in our viewing area (please speak to a coach to clear this), but limited seating will be available to respect social distancing guidelines:
*We thank you for your patience and understanding while we continue to adapt to the Provincial Government’s rules and regulations.
REST ASSURED:
We have been practising COVID-19 protocols since the beginning of June when we introduced a small number of competitive athletes back to the gym. We have procured a variety of sanitizing and disinfecting products - all approved by Health Canada - and are following cleaning protocols established by the Health Unit and Gymnastics Ontario. Circuits, stations and equipment are sanitized between rotations of participants. Larger areas of the gym are "fogged" using Vital Oxide between classes. The washroom and bleachers and other highly used areas are disinfected after each use.
We cannot prevent children from being children but we are mitigating every risk possible in order to be able to stay in operation. We thank you for your cooperation and encourage your feedback and questions.
